Baby Bundles Partner Story

All the inspiration that our partner agencies and organizations need to join the cause comes from the question, “Do you have any baby clothes or bottles?”

It’s the same for every partner: Expectant parents or the family of a newborn need help. The call goes out from our partners to Baby Bundles for however many bags are needed. Once delivered, those bags produce what Beverly (Knox) Davis calls “priceless moments.”

Beverly is founder and president of A Brighter Day Outreach, serving the multicultural neighborhoods of Hoskins and Thomasboro in northwest Charlotte. In addition to handing them out one at a time, the nonprofit makes bags available at its food pantry and community events.

Beverly hopes that each bag packed with newborn essentials represents the first step in building a relationship with neighbors, helping them navigate the road to a better life. Baby Bundles has handed out 25,000 bags since we began in 2010. With the community’s help, we are on track this year to distribute 5,000. We plan to do more. In Mecklenburg County, 7,000 babies are born into financial hardship each year.

A majority of bundles are distributed by Atrium Health, Novant Health, Mecklenburg County Public Health Department and Care Ring, a nonprofit that provides health services for those who need it.

Our goal in partnering with other agencies and organizations is to reach into all corners of the community. To make baby bundles available to everyone, including those who might be out of the reach of larger health care and family services. To have a tangible answer the next time an expectant mom asks, “Do you have any baby clothes or bottles?”
